About Microchip

Microchip Technology is a semiconductor manufacturing company headquartered in Arizona, United States. Founded in 1987, Microchip Technology have locations all across the world with one location being Caldicot, Wales. In 2018, Microchip acquired the semiconductor manufacturing company, Microsemi. The former Microsemi site in Caldicot, now run by Microchip, is a manufacturing site where silicon dies are attached to printed circuit boards (PCBs) before being wire bonded together with the other parts of the PCB. Products made in Caldicot are used in the medical, communication, industrial, aerospace and defence industries.
